What Are TikTok Stories?
TikTok Stories are short video clips or photo slideshows that appear at the top of a creator's profile and inside the app's Stories tray, separate from their normal For You feed uploads. They are designed to be casual, in-the-moment posts, a behind-the-scenes clip, a Q&A, a mood photo, and they automatically disappear 24 hours after being posted. That built-in expiry is exactly why so many people search for a downloader: if you don't grab a story on the day it goes up, it's gone from TikTok for good, and there is no native "save" button for other people's stories.

Supported Story Types and Devices
TikTok Stories come in more than one format, and the downloader is being built to handle each one plus the device it lands on:
- Video Stories: the classic format: a short vertical video clip, sometimes with music. Saved as MP4 (H.264 video + AAC audio), the universal format supported by every phone and desktop player.
- Photo Stories (slideshows): a series of still images set to a music track. The tool is being built to save the underlying photos plus the audio, so you keep the full experience, not just a screenshot.
- Story link OR @username: two entry methods. Paste the direct story URL from TikTok's Share menu, or paste the poster's @username to grab whatever story they have currently live.
- iPhone / iPad: saves directly to the Files app; video stories open in the Photos app or QuickTime with no conversion.
- Android: saves to your Downloads folder and plays instantly in Google Photos, VLC, or MX Player.
- Desktop (Windows, Mac, Linux): works in any modern browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, with files dropping straight into your Downloads folder.
- No file-size cap: TikTok Stories are naturally short (under a minute), so files stay small, usually 2 to 20 MB, with no arbitrary caps applied by us.
Safety & Legality
The TikTok Story downloader is intended for personal, offline use with public stories only. If an account is set to private, only their approved followers can view the story inside the TikTok app, we cannot bypass that, and the tool will refuse. Downloading someone's private content without permission is both a privacy violation and a breach of TikTok's rules, so please don't ask.
For public stories, treat downloads the way you would treat a screenshot: fine for personal reference, offline viewing, or backing up your own content. Redistributing, re-uploading, or monetising another creator's story without permission is a different matter, that is copyright infringement, and the fact that stories expire after 24 hours does not change ownership. Please review TikTok's Terms of Service before saving other people's content, and when in doubt, ask the creator first.
On the safety side: our tool runs entirely over HTTPS, does not require any browser extension or executable, and does not store your paste history against your IP. We fetch the story anonymously through our own server, so the original poster never sees you as a viewer and receives no download notification. Nothing installs on your device.

When will the TikTok story tool launch?
We are currently in closed beta and finalising how the tool handles both video and photo (slideshow) stories. Can I download stories from private accounts?
No. The tool will only work with public TikTok Stories. If an account is set to private, only their approved followers can view the story inside the TikTok app, we cannot and will not bypass that restriction. Downloading someone's private content without permission is a serious privacy and Terms-of-Service violation, so the tool refuses.
Will the person know I downloaded or viewed their story?
No. We fetch stories anonymously through our own server, so the original poster does not see your name in their viewer list, and they receive no notification that a download occurred. There is no login required on your side either. Downloading via TubeToMP4 does not leak your TikTok identity to the account whose story you saved.
What if the story is already over 24 hours old?
TikTok Stories expire after 24 hours and are removed from the platform. Once that happens, no external tool can recover them, the media is no longer served by TikTok. If you know a story you want to keep, save it while it is still live. The 24-hour clock is the main reason a fast, no-friction downloader is so useful here.
Does it work for photo/slideshow stories as well as videos?
Yes. TikTok Stories come in two flavours: short video clips and photo slideshows with music. The downloader is being built to save both. MP4 for the video ones, and a downloadable file (or bundled slides) for the photo variant. You paste the same story link either way; the tool detects the format and returns the appropriate file.
Does it save the story without a watermark?
Yes. The saved MP4 or media file is a clean copy of the original stream, with no TubeToMP4 branding, no bumper clip, and no overlay. TikTok itself sometimes bakes a small username or logo into the story at upload, that comes from the platform, not from us, and cannot be removed by any downloader.
Do I need a TikTok account?
No. You do not need a TikTok account to use this tool, and you do not need to create an account with TubeToMP4. Paste the story link (or a @username, when that entry method ships), tap download, and save the file. Because you never log in, TikTok cannot attach the download to any identity.
